DyAnne’s community goes international!

DyAnne DiSalvo created community while visiting the United Nations School in Hanoi, Vietnam.

DyAnne DiSalvo was a hit on campus this week, inspirational to students

  • DyAnne visited the United Nations School in Hanoi, Vietnam, this past November because of her community books.

Ms. DiSalvo is an American author, illustrator and artist presented to grades 1 through 6 this past week. Many of Ms. DiSalvo’s works are community oriented with a focus on what you can do in your neighborhood as a Service Learning.

Several of DyAnne DiSalvo’s books are on sale in the library. All books are paperback and produced by Scholastic USA. These books make wonderful holiday gifts.

Grades 1 through 5 students were excited to meet author and illustrator Ms. DyAnne DiSalvo and were inspired by her Service Learning themed stories. The contest for a service learning community outreach activity brought in more than 35 entries. Many of the entries were thoughtful and well planned and the decision making committee had to make difficult choices among many excellent submissions.

Congratulations to winners:
Jonah Ballard – Books on Bikes to those without books
Coco Miller – Neighbors working together to clean up their community
Han Na Jeong – Share a smile with your neighbor—make them happy all day long
Ani Pham – 1000 different ways to help
Adeeti Khatri – Box of Love: fill a box with useful items to give as a special present

They enjoyed lunch in the Elementary school Reading Corner with DyAnne DiSalvo.
